Description

SparkassenPark Mönchengladbach, also formerly known as Warsteiner HockeyPark, is a famous multi-purpose sports venue located in the German city of Mönchengladbach.

The stadium was completed at the end of 2005, earlier than originally planned. The capacity of the arena was 12,000 people. In 2006, the Men's Field Hockey World Championships were held here. The participants were Germany, India, Argentina and Spain. SparkassenPark has two artificial turf pitches, each with a floodlight system. The actual stadium has a capacity of 9,046 seats and can be expanded to approximately 12,000 seats using mobile stands. There is also an additional playing field, which seats approximately 850 spectators.

To date, the largest event at the sports facility was the 2006 Men's Field Hockey World Championships, when approximately 100,000 spectators came to the hockey park over twelve game days. Since then, SparkassenPark has been the venue for matches of the national teams of the German Ice Hockey Association.

The Bundesliga hockey team Gladbacher HTC played several home games here during the 2006/07 season. In addition, the facility served as the home stadium of the local Mavericks American football team until 2011.

SparkassenPark is actively used for concerts and other mass sporting events. For example, from 2007 to 2009, it hosted the Junior Bowl, the final of the GFL Juniors, an American football youth league.
